Considered as one of the highlights
in the SSCCEM Calendar every year, the ELC Sri Lanka program has seen the largest number
of requests to participate in a workshop. This year we are welcoming the team of
Emergency Physicians from Australia led by Prof. Shane Curran, who is considered
as one of the greatest contributors to Emergency Medicine in Sri Lanka along with our very
own Prof. Chula Goonasekera.
We were happier to welcome them this
year in the backdrop of the newest speciality in Sri Lanka, Emergency Medicine
about to bloom with the first set of trainees from a competitive selection
examination awaiting the program to start.
ELC Sri Lanka 2013 was held
in April with two sessions. First one, “Train the Trainer” was conducted with a
goal of building up a group of Sri Lankan trainers to take the course forward.
It was held on the 3rd and 4th of April 2013. The
next course was for trainees in Emergency Medicine targeting the doctors working
in busy ETUs and PCUs all over the country. The course was on the 6th
and 7th of April, 2013.
ELC Sri Lanka 2013 was held at
the skills lab in Kotelawala Defence University, Ratmalana, Sri Lanka. The
Course fee was Rs. 8000 and for SSCCEM members it was Rs. 7000. Online
registration was the mode for the request and the organising committee selected the most appropriate group out of more than 100 applicants.
