Emergency Life Care

   Sri Lanka 2013

ELC Sri Lanka was back in Sri Lanka earlier than the previous year and the venue this time was in Colombo. The settings were somewhat different in the Kotelawela Defence University (KDU) premises in Ratmalana in suburbs of the capitol city. The newly opened skills lab of the university was the main area for the program with few other locations were allocated for the lectures.

The meals were arranged in the officers’ mess and the coffee bar of the KDU. The distance between the locations gave the participants a chance to walk around and feel the difference from our state universities. The ELC Australian Instructors were led by Prof Shane Curran as usual and there were six other Emergency Physicians who helped him to complete the training.

The program was coordinated from the KDU end by Dr. Senake Gunetilleka the President Elect of the SSCCEM and it was a new experience for the KDU medical faculty staff as well.

The Course Dinner was held at the Governor’s Restaurant of the Mount Lavinia Hotel.
