BASIC Course is an internationally recognised course
conducted by intensivists, anesthetists and respiratory specialists. It has
been used by ICUs in Australia, Malaysia, Europe, UK and India to equip doctors
starting out in ICU or doctors who care for the critically ill with relevant
skills and knowledge.
In Sri Lanka SSCCEM is proud be the
local convener for the BASIC courses course and Prof Ross Freebairn is leading the course faculty.
Beyond
BASIC Mechanical Ventilation (BBMV) course is for the Doctors with ICU
experience and senior intensive care nurses who wish to increase their
knowledge and understanding of Mechanical Ventilation. It is highly encouraged
that the applicants have to provide proof of previous BASIC course completion
to register for the course. BBMV course is conducted by high profile
international instructors. The course format is similar to the BASIC course featuring
lectures and skill stations and runs for two days. It is endorsed and promoted in Europe by the training committee of the European Society of the Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM).
A course textbooks will be issued
to the participant soon after the confirmation. Participants are expected to have read the
book and completed on-line MCQ test prior to attending the course.
Successful
completion of the course is dependent on completion of the pre-course MCQ,
attendance at all lectures and workstations, passing the post-course MCQ and
completion of course evaluation forms.
Any
cancellation must be notified to the organizer in writing. 10% administrative levy
will apply to any course refunds. A 50% partial refund will be issued if the enrollment is cancelled between 3 weeks prior to the scheduled course
date. No refund will be given if a course enrollment is cancelled within 3 week
of the scheduled course date or the cancellation is received after the BASIC
course book has been sent out to participants.
Course is subject to a minimum participation before
course commencement. The organizer reserves the right to cancel the course and
fully refund the participants should unforeseen circumstances necessitate.
